Well Harford Republicans, we once again have an opportunity to get it right. With so many candidates in so many races it is near impossible for the average citizen to not feel overwhelmed and possibly apathetic toward this whole process. It is my hope that this blog has, even if just a little bit, clarified some of the important issues and helped the readers choose the people that are best for the offices they are seeking. I have been beating the anti-incumbency drum since the blog’s inception. I continue to beat that drum today. We have the opportunity to move our Party in a youthful direction and I feel that that will only benefit us in the long run. We have an opportunity to let the GOBN know that they are not the only game in town any more. We have many qualified individuals who simply are not part of the “in†crowd. You will not see them hanging out at Ropewalk or at Central Committee meeting. They are at home with their families, in our churches, in our communities, and on our ballots to make a difference. We need to reject the “who you know shows how important you are†mentality. This is a weapon of the GOBN and needs to be erased from our Party in Harford County. We can help erase it by voting for the younger, and yes, sometimes less experienced candidates. The experience card is also a weapon of the GOBN. The fact is they too once had no experience. They maintain power by then holding others lack of experience against them. How soon they have forgotten what it was like to be filled with drive, purpose, and a passion to make a difference.
Looking back over the last eight months we have seen a lot on the blog. While much of it has been devoted to showing the difference between one person compared to another, we are about to enter something new together. We will soon need to start taking on the democrats. I look forward to unifying with you behind our Party’s candidates. Depending on who wins in several of the races, this may be easier said than done. We have real threats in the democratic party. Val Twonmoh, Jesse Bane, Hirsch or Lisanti, Guthrie, James, and others are set to give our candidates serious challenges.
I thank you all for your readership and look forward to donkey hunting season with you all.

You say you’ve been ‘defining the issues’.. but I haven’t heard any comments on growth, on crime, on fiscal responsibility, on economic development, on forward thinking – it’s been a discussion of who is further to the right, who’s a switch-o-crat, who has the least amount of experience, how people feel about abortion.
A candidate expressing their feelings about an issue does not equate to ability to answer the actual problem. Everyone’s anti-gang – but what’re you gonna do about it? No one wants higher taxes – but how will you give the county the infrastructure and services it needs? This has been the problem with this campaign.

Here! Here! I second the idea that the GOBN has GOT TO GO!!! No matter where it exists in this county, no matter the office. The elitism of the GOBN runs completely counter to the basic tenents of the GOP. The GOBN is more appropriate for the dem’s, not us. Here is to hoping that today, 12 Sept, brings new life and new blood to the county.

This election is phase one of a two phase revolution in Harford. If the GOBN manages to partially survive today’s primary,…it will definitely be gone after the next election cycle.
Good luck to all the “young blood” out there!

I’ve gotta agree with mustv. Here’s hoping that with the general on the horizon, the focus will be on solutions to problems. TALKERS seem to get elected- we need DOERS.
