The question we have to ask ourselves on this one is this, “Is it broken?â€Â? Do we need to fix our representation in 35B?Â? My gut says no.Â? However, there are several people that I highly respect that are behind Welch.Â? Susan was behind the Ferret Bill and is also a member of the delegation that failed to bring home the bacon.Â? Do we start knocking off weak legislators now or do we give Susan one more chance?Â? In this race I have way more questions than answers.Â? I do not find many people who are sharply divided one way or another.Â? With about a month to go we need to start hearing issues.Â? I think that there are reasons to replace McComas but should it be Welch?
Jim Welch or Susan McComas?

Susan is are one delegate with integrity. Is she quirky – you bet she is. But, at the end of the day she is a good conservative voter who speaks her mind. You always know where you stand with Susan. She is about helping BelAir – not playing games. That’s probably why she enjoys the support of Bob Ehrlich and Bob Hooper. She has my vote.

My comments regarding Councilman Robert Cassilly were completely misrepresented in the Aegis article dated August 4, 2006. I was speaking on issues of trust in government, and cited as examples 1) Aberdeen citizens mistrust in the local city board of elections, demanding instead county oversight to count the votes for the annexation referendum.
2) recent criticisms leveled by government officials against the board of education, 3) lack of confidence in some members of the council as relates to the efficacy of our Planning and Zoning Departments, and 4) the following comments in regards to Mr. Cassilly. I did not criticize Cassilly’s decision to not resign his seat. I used this as an example of a councilman who, like many citizens, is also cautious to trust government officials to make a responsible choice to fill his vacant seat. If anything, my comments validated Mr. Cassilly’s stance. I will send this to the Aegis to be printed.

Susan stood up for the kids of HC against all odds and withstood the ire of her delegation colleagues who chose to do nothing. You GO GIRL!

I agree that Susan McComas isn’t the greatest, however, the sad part is she appears to be the best one on the entire delegation. She votes right, she works hard, she is honest. And as this past session has shown, she is developing a backbone. That’s was her only fault, so I think that she is coming around to be a great delegate. Let’s keep her.

I for one am with Susan. I admire her independence and deep hearted desire to do what is right for Harford County. I really admired her standing up on the House floor to fight for Harford County school construction money. It took true character to stand up before your collegues and publically question why 91 million dollars was going to every major jurisdiction except Harford County. While she may lack the political capital necessary right now to bring home the bacon, I think we should give her more time in Annapolis. Susan, if you are reading this, stay away from the Ferretts.

Keep McComas in the House!
Unlike too many folks who continually seem to deride the Governor’s chances of re-election, Susan McComas has been a staunch defender of Governor Ehrlich’s campaign efforts, as well as what the Ehrlich Administration has done for Harford County. On top of that, she is a solid conservative vote.

Susan McComas is one of our best delegates. There is no reason to make a change. No one cares more about her constituents than Susan does. She stands up for what is right. She works terribly hard. We work well together on issues that come before her committee and mine. She is on the House Judiciary committee and I’m on the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee. We help each other, we talk all the time about bills coming out of committee. You can count on her to vote right all the time.
Quite frankly, we need all the friends we can get in Annapolis helping each other out. Susan is a team player, works hard, has integrity and is driven to do the right thing. We need Susan in the House….I need Susan on the Judiciary Committee. There is absolutely no reason to make a change.

A reminder that the sign portion of the zoning code (Ch. 219) restricts political campaign signs to 16 square feet in total area per premises in residential districts and they must be more than 60 feet from the center of the intersection and not impede vision. P&Z confirms the requirements and has no problem with citizens removing signs in violation.
Frequent violations have been occurring (mostly seen Cochran and Gallion). Get the word out. Violations will be torn down.
Since the candidates will be either making or enforcing the laws, it would be good if they follow them.

Anyone else hear that Dave Carey went to republican Welsh’s fundraiser? Whats up with that?
It certainly appears that the democrats must be behind Welsh running against Susan McComas. Why else would Carey and some of the good ole boys be at Welsh’s fundraiser.
If I were David Carey I’d rather run against Welsh than McComas any day. Didn’t McComas beat Carey by close to 4,000 votes?
We need to make sure McComas knocks Welsh out of the primary in a major way so she can put Carey back on sidelines with Art Helton (and Welsh).

Welsch is definatly a Carey plant. He works for Dave Carey in the town of Bel Air as his communications person. It’s pretty obvious and I don’t think the people of Bel Air like this sort of stuff.

The District was built in Annapolis just for Carey and Carey spent a ton to beat Susan and failed. Hee hee. Jim is a nice guy who has a political future but should he have thrown his hat in this ring? Probably not. Susan won’t even let you buy her a beer in a bar to “avoid any impropriety.” Ferretts and all, I vote for Susan……

Duuuh!! OF COURSE Dave Carey is encouraging Jim to run! Jim also frequently seeks “advice” from Bill Cox. Here’s a chance to lose the seat to the Dems… Susan has shown herself to have backbone and to stand up for Harford County. We need to give her a chance to gain MORE capital with the folks in Annapolis who sometimes STILL tend to think of people in Harford County as hicks from the sticks. She’s got my support.
