Parrott and Wagner Need to Go

February 7th, 2006 · 3 Comments

Please keep in mind that Norm Cochran only lost to Wagner by 700 votes in the 2002 primary. He went on the thump Dr. Hirsh riding the Republican tidal wave of support for Gov. Ehrlich. That just shows you how important it is that we vote the right way in the primary. If you do not understand how important the primary is then read my article on the GOP primary below. A crazy number of people don’t bother showing up at the primary and we get people like Parrott time and time again. One example of why we should rid ourselves of Wagner can be found in his recent crusade against the farmers in my district. If you were not paying attention, he was worried about the hard working farmers who run businesses out of their barns. If I understand this correctly, buildings on agricultural land are exempt from some building/safety regulations. So Mr. Wagner and other government officials, in their great wisdom, decided to help protect us from ourselves. Several farm “stores” were closed temporarily because they were operating a business (selling milk, butter, apple cider, giving hay rides, etc…) and their buildings were not up to code for a business. Thank you, Mr. Wagner, for protecting me from the farmers. And whoever came up with that idea of placing a sign at any entranceway saying, “This building has not be inspected by Harford County” is also deserving of great praise. It is this mentality that we conservatives cannot stand for. The government is not here to protect us from ourselves. I see Wagner as vulnerable at this point. We need someone to step up and challenge him now.

In the 1998 general election, Parrott beat Michael Comeau, a Democrat, by only 1,500 votes. In the 2002 primary, she beat David Shrodes (a party switcher) by only 290 votes. The gradual eroding of her support base is clearly evident by these statistics. She has squeaked by the last two elections and has probably met her match in Donna Stifler. I think it is fitting to replace Parrott with another Republican woman. Stifler wrote on her website, “If I’m to represent you in Annapolis, I first must listen to you in Harford County.” When was the last time you saw Joanne Parrott? and the Farm Fair doesn’t count. Even if you did see her she wouldn’t talk to you unless you were important (The Aegis, 2/3/06) Let’s face it, she does not have a reputation for being one of those few hardworking, seen everywhere, involved in everything politicians. There is no way she can represent me by reading the Aegis in Annapolis (the Aegis writes full page stories on fox crap). Maybe she is in retirement mode? If I were Parrott I would look at Donna as a worthy successor and step aside. No one wants to lose an election and in this case no one needs to. Donna has 7X more money and that should be a sign for Joanne to exit the stage.

Parrott is in office because she WON HER ELECTION RACES! Does that not mean that she was the popular favorite in her races? I believe it was. People should focus more on what we need to do for our county and our state, forget about party issues and elect someone who will get the job done. I am a supporter of Delegate Parrott and believe that she will be well represented at the poles.

I’m glad you are defending her. I was beginning to think she didn’t have any supporters. I am glad that you emphasized the obvious that she WON HER ELECTION RACES! The question is, CAN SHE BEAT STIFLER? I think the answer will be a resounding NO!
